Homeowners and the perception of value

Interesting findings just released by Zillow. The real estate marketing and valuation company conducted a survey of homeowners across the country and found that despite the current housing situation, homeowners overwhelmingly believe their properties are maintaining and increasing in value. According to the findings:

“While about 62 percent of homeowners surveyed said they believe their home values have increased or held steady in the past year, the reality is that about 73 percent of U.S. homes lost value, according to an analysis of Zillow’s second-quarter real estate market reports data, due out Aug. 12.”

First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit

New legislation has been signed that makes first time home buyers who purchased property after April 9, 2008 and before July 1, 2009 eligible for a $7,500 tax credit. There are a few stipulations.
